As someone passionate about mental health and wellness, I started Healthy Solutions as a grassroots organization with the simple goal of fostering positive mental health through exercise promotion, education and training. Having personally experienced the holistic benefits of physical activity, I decided to focus on movement and being physically active as a way to support the physical, social, emotional, and cognitive well-being of the whole person.
I see movement as a catalyst for change in a person’s physical, mental and emotional state. Exercise and movement can provide the foundation for building a positive sense of self. Improving self-esteem can help drive decisions that support overall health and well-being. I call the approach “Movement = Medicine” and explain that by getting in tune with your body, you can learn how you can use breathing, movement, healthy eating, positive thinking, mindfulness, and exercise as tools in your health and wellness toolbox.
