Caesars Windsor marked its milestone 15th brand anniversary Friday, kicking off festivities with a $15,000 donation to the local branch of the Canadian Mental Health Association.

“I’m very proud,” said Caesars Windsor president Kevin Laforet. “It’s hard to believe 15 years have passed by since we lit up the Caesars sign and opened the Augustus Tower, and Billy Joel christened the Colosseum stage.”

Laforet said next year’s 30th anniversary of Casino Windsor’s opening will be an even bigger party.

He highlighted the generosity of both employees and customers over the years, noting employees have donated more than 100,000 hours of their time to events, charities and other causes.

To mark the anniversary, Caesars Windsor will make 15 donations of $1,000 beginning this summer, with employees deciding where the money will go, Laforet said.

“This brand is such a world-class brand,” said Dave Cassidy, president of Unifor Local 444, which represents the casino workers. “And our employees make it the way it is today. So it’s an exciting day for us here.”

Customer donations along with a top-up from Caesars Windsor reached $15,000 and that money was donated Friday to the Canadian Mental Health Association.

“Your contributions and dedication to our cause have made a significant impact on … those living with mental health challenges,” said Kim Willis, director at the Canadian Mental Health Association’s Windsor-Essex County branch.

“Your partnership with CMHA has not only helped us raise essential funds but has helped us reduce the stigma surrounding mental health,” Willis added.

“By standing alongside us and actively promoting mental wellness, you have helped create a more inclusive and understanding society.”
